: I thought about attempting my first roll but I figured grass
: between my teeth would not be pleasant!
That would have been something to see. On my first "test-launch" a couple weeks ago, I nearly rolled in 6" of water. The lakeshore is rocky at my in-law's cottage, so I can't beach launch -- I have to do a shallow-water launch. And because I miscalculated the height reduction that the recess would produce at the front edge of the coaming, I can't do a butt-first entry, like I intended. I have to do a feet-first entry, by sitting on the rear deck, and sliding forward to sit down. I was bracing with the paddle on one side, but lost my balance anyway, and started to go around. I shredded my hands on the zebra mussels, but managed to save my face, and "save face" both at the same time.
