Yeah, I think they should at least throw me a free rudder system, or maybe outfit me with some gear bags, right?
Good question on the slack adjustment. That's part of why they come prewired. The braces are designed where the wire loops around the footpeg, and then back to a loop that acts as a pulley, then back to the toe mechanism. What happens is if you pull the footbrace forward one foot, the slack is pulled with the footbrace, and when you slide it back the slack is let out. I wish I could explain it better than that, but it's basically like a self-correcting slack adjuster. No matter where you position the brace the wire will remain tensioned properly. The only time you tension it is when you do the installation. There is also a manual slack adjuster if the wires stretch over time, or to adjust the position of the toe mechanism if down the road you decide you want it further forward or backwards. For instance, if you got a new pair of shoes that felt more comfortable with the rudder control further forward from the foot peg, then you can manually adjust that with an adjustment knob. The footpegs arrive prewired with the trailing end ready to be attached to the rudder system.
Hope that helps. Boy I really do need to get on the Seal-Line payroll.
Cheers,
Malcolm
