When you say "bonding to wood" you mean bonding to fiberglass and epoxy over wood right?

To get a good foam bond with contct cement, make sure you sand the epoxy surace a bit to clean off any blush. Give both surfaces two coats letting the first one dry and the second almost dry (just tacky). It will never come apart if done that way. Use the contact cement that's flamable not the water based stuff. Make sure you get the position right because once it makes full contact it's almost impossible to seperate.

You can use thickened epoxy but then you have to clamp it and all that stuff. Contact cement is so easy and works great. By the way, epoxy will bond closed cell foam perfectly - I've done it.
