: Right, foam to glass and epoxy. The reason I questioned the contact cement is
: that I have have not had good results in the past. The instructions
: mentioned the two coat method and then again here. I have not tried this
: method but will give it a try, thanks.
In particular, the foam MUST have two coats, since most of the first coat is absorbed into the open cells on the surface. I've done single coat laminations and they invariably fail in time. Double coat laminations have proven to be very durable.
: The main reason I questioned it in the first place is that I followed
: recomendations intalling velcro for a Thermorest seat pad. The Epoxy+wood
: powder and cement didn't last. When I used S3 epoxy and West mircofibers
: on both pieces of velcro I had great results and can rip out the seat with
: out worrying about lifting the velcro... Thanks again, Rick
Velcro can be problematic because the hook side has a very smooth surface on the back that's difficult to get a good bond to. Sanding it lightly helps.
