Just as a thought-- could you run the straps DIAGONALLY across the cab? From left-front to right-rear on your current setup? Running the straps under your deck rigging, of course, to minimize the boat sliding.
Don't know if it's a GOOD idea, but it's an idea...
As long as you are reasonably careful about balancing tension on your straps, and if your cushions don't slide at all, your boat's probably stiff enough not to have problems with your current arrangements, at least at the speeds you say you deal with (and assuming no major cross winds etc.)
