Ken,
I finally got some working time today and I concentrated on re-sizing my cockpit. I did some experiments prior to re-sizing. The closest I could come to a butt-first entry was to put one leg in and sit down then pull the other leg in. I had to lean very hard to one side and even then my knee scraped the deck going in. So I took a compass and traced a new outline that was 1 1/2" bigger on the sides and 2" at the front of the cockpit. I left the back of the opening where it was (2" from bulkhead). I am using 1/2" thick WRC for the coaming riser so I gained 2" in the width and 1 1/2" in the depth. This will allow me to do a true butt-first entry but it won't be a cakewalk. I think this size will work well. I plan to make a back band so I can adjust how close I sit to the back of the opening. So I cut to the new lines and am all prepared for the coaming riser and have all my strips cut.

: My cockpit measures 30 1/2" long, and I can't do a butt-first entry. I
: can't imagine being able to do it with a 22" long opening, unless you
: have slinkys for legs. But then again, I'm 6'5".
