-35 in Maine?

: I am planning to move my strip built kayak up with me to Maine for the year
: and I'm not sure if I should be worried about the cold weather and the
: fiberglass. It will be stored in a non-heated space and I have no idea
: about how -35 degree weather could affect any part of the boat. Any
: suggestions would be appreciated!

Gargling just now shows that the lowest temp ever in Maine was -48F... It seems that maybe someone is pulling your leg in suggesting that it gets to -35 very often anywhere in Maine.

Where are you moving to? Nearish the coast it only rarely goes below 0...

All of that said, I don't think that your 'yak will suffer too much outside - just protect it from the humidity!

: Also, If anyone has a favorite paddling place in Maine let me know!

Oh, hey, most of the coast (and there is a lot of it) is just great! You might be able to find a paddling partner by posting on the SMSKN.org message board (or by looking on their event list) - if you're in S. Maine, that is!

Hmm. There's a message up that might lead you in the right direction...
