: I need (well, want) to buy a compound miter saw to use in replacing molding
: around our house, and possibly helping with a stripper I plan to build in
: the future.

: I'm looking at the Delta 36-085 that cuts both right and left bevels, or the
: Delta MS275 or MS250 that cut only right bevels. Difference in price is
: about $100 between the 36-085 and MS275. The 36-085 is also an
: 'Industrial" model compared to the "shopmaster" level for
: the MS series. Both levels use 15 amp motors.

: Any recommendations -- Delta or otherwise? These are 10" saws. How
: important is it to be able to make both right and left bevel cuts?

I have had three miter saws
#1 a First Gen Makita cast iron 10" geat product, heavy could not cut over 3 1/4" base molding. Stolen
#2 a Ryobi 8 1/4" compound light homeowner model, used for 5 years all the time beause it was sooo light on the back. Died, arbor saw bolt sheared.Made all lot money with it. The saw did not impress but work did, set my client base for life.
# 3 First gen Hatachi 8" sliding compound. Great tool use for trim to 2x framing. It would be nice to have the 15" but scares the hell out of me, still have all digets after 20+ years. Ihave had it for 6 years ,same as new cuts. The double action would seem to be nice but have such a wimpy fence. The 15" lets you use the added tall fences. I would buy a compound 10" non silder if just doing trim. I use the silder for 12" shelf cutting. If you are not doing the real tall stuff the 10" will do.
The techneque for cutting is to always pull the saw down with a just a little pull to one side to over come the play. If you learn your saw you can deal with it and have good cuts. Sharp blades are a must in harder woods. Dull blades will alway deflect.
