Bram Dally has been getting a lot of press about is strip-built single handed sailing skiff built using kayak building techniques. The latest is in EpoxyWorks http://www.epoxyworks.com/ from Gougeon Brothers. The article talks about the benefits of wood for long term competitiveness of sailing skiffs. I don't think the information is directly applicable to sea kayaks, but it is interesting reading. EpoxyWorks is free and usually has a lot of good information. Well worth subscribing.
