: I think the "previous flamer" found 8 or 10 self reported boat
: failures during one summer.

: I think his position was that engineering analysis showed that compared to
: production boats twoodstrip boats being built are simply weak.

Probably true, but could it not have been the fault of the builders and not the techniques? Strip boatbuilding has been around for a long time and any inherent weakness that caused catastrophic failures to be "common" would have become apparent a long time ago.

: I think that he also shared with you how to build wood strip boats lighter
: than your wood strip boats and stronger than production boats.

: Observing the posts on this board I have noticed that many of you are
: accepting and commenting favorably on his building practices without
: attribution. All the while allowing others to slam him.

I do recall coming across posts to this BB referring to the flamer who's name we do not speak, when I was going through the archives. Could you please allude to those of us fairly new to this BB what are his techniques? From what I've been following on this BB, most of the posts about strip and S&G kayakbuilding is fairly generic and most of the info. is already out there in books, magazine articles, etc. Some fine tuning of technique advice is about all that is "new" that is posted here. Unless the unnamed flamer invented strip or S&G kayak building, I do not see how anyone could be using his ideas and not giving credit to him. But then I plead ingnorance to his special techniques. Please elaborate.

Note: I admit that this post is violating the rules in that I am not talking about kayak construction, however, the answer to my question may provide some insight into kayak building, so I ask the BB owner and managers to please forgive me, I seek only knowledge and the banishment of my ignorance. :)
