I'm in Virginia and used Cypress in my "football". Mills well, bends well, light, nice color. I support using it in strip built boats. I bought it rough cut at $2.20 per board foot, which was a lot cheaper than the WRC I bought locally for $4.45 per Bft - although it was really top notch cedar in 16 foot lengths, totally clear and an incredibly even and consistent color within each board - just couldn't get two boards of the same color.

Anyway, I plan to use Cypress again on a couple more kayaks (a Spring Run and a Panache) and possible use it as the major color in a canoe (maybe a Redbird)that will be built after the kayaks.
