I appreciate hearing about that. What material did you make the skeg with? I'll be interested to hear how it works out. Is your boat relatively short also?
: I don't have an auk, but with my boat I found that I would veer to either
: side when loosing speed. As long as I was paddling I could keep it
: straight, but let if glide and under 2mph it would slowly yaw to either
: side. I added a small skeg that is about 2' long and goes from nothing to
: maybe 2"...never extending below the lowest part of the keel..or
: hull. I just tried it out this last weekend. It seems to work ok. Without
: it the boat handled quartering waves very well. It's just that I wanted a
: straight glide. Not sure which way I'll go for sure...yet. I will be going
: down some winding rivers, but also a lot of straight paddleing as well.
