: I need (well, want) to buy a compound miter saw to use in replacing molding
: around our house, and possibly helping with a stripper I plan to build in
: the future.
A coping saw (no power, just a cheap wire frame and a thin blade) will give you great joints with molding. Most walls are not at a perfect 90 degrees to each other so 45 degree miters need some tweeking. A coping cut can compensate easier and (I've been told) with less waste than a mitered cut.
Get a book on installing moldings and baseboards, and see how they mark and cut the materials. Then spend your money on a radial arm saw, which you CAN use for ripping strips for a stripper.
