Wouldn't you know it? the photos I have available show the front bit of the cockpit and the seat area, but manage to miss the braces. Mine appear to be fairly far back, too. If Ted's seem more normal to you, notice the thickness. That will lower the point of leg contact, and effectively move the contact point foreward.
I find the hull to be reasonably comfortable, but the cockpit itself is huge to my sensibilities. I'd be able to get a better grip (and still have easy in/out) if the hole were 2-3" shorter. Maybe that's part of why it looks so far back.
