Everyone who's built one or the other naturally has their favorite - the one they built. I'm one of those types, and I like my Pygmy and their building process. The darn thing just fits together, and I feel the process is more elegant (eg, no burying of stitch wires in fillets or fussing with scarph joints). With CLC you seem to get more opportunities to make adjustments. That can be seen as either a good or bad thing.

Both will allow you to enjoy building a boat that (after choosing the right model) will give you plenty of enjoyment on the water. And regardless of my opinions of the builds, most boats by both companies are built by first-timers. You'll spend more time on the water than in the shop, so getting the boat you want is the most important decision. Try the models you are interested if you can find a way. Ask around - there's probably one somewhere near you, and I think both companies keep lists of friendly customers.
