I have built and paddled kayaks from kits from both companies. I prefer Pygmy, hands down. Better instructions and easier to build for a novice. Plus I understand the owner of Pygmy field tests his product prior to offering it for sale. Enough on that touchy area. I took my CLC Ches 17lt down the Colorado River, Hoover Dam to Yuma and found it to be adequate. I took my Pygmy Arctic Tern on a 2 week trip through Boundry Waters in Minnesota. Performed well. Hope this input helps.
