This was a reasonably common occurance at SSTIKS this year. Several people lost hooks. It seemed to be winter-built boats that were in the sun for the first time. Joe Greenley explained that the heat makes the not-quite-hardened epoxy a bit soft. It also seemed to be related to how beefy the base of the hook were. Thinner hooks were more apt to pop.
