You might consider alternative methods for building your coaming and lip.
I was inspired by some photos of a kayak at one of the rendezvous last
year (might have been R2K2 - I'm not sure - try searching archives for
"Pam's yak"). As a result, I made a coaming lip out of a milled sitka
spruce section - using a router and 1/4" radius cove and round-over
cutters. You can see the sections I milled:

I've been meaning to write up this technique in a web page for a while,
but I haven't quite got to it yet - it wasn't an original idea so it
seems unfair to claim credit. I find that this coaming fits a neoprene
spraydeck better than any other coaming I've used (it was built to the
specific dimensions of a Knoydart Kayaking systems Ocean 1 sprayskirt)
and is both secure and very waterproof. It did, however, need quite a
lot of work - and I didn't manage to keep the lip at a constant height
above the deck, though no-one has yet noticed this unless I point it out
to them.
