I would certainly second that ! I had never met or spoken to a strip builder,
nor ever seen a strip built kayak before I built my first. I've never seen
another one to this day ! My second kayak was a hybrid - stitch and glue
hull with strip deck - the process was just as easy, despite making significant
changes to the design I'd started with. My previous woodworking experience was
limited to things entirely made in right-angles (mainly shelves :-) and my
previous experience of fibreglass and epoxy was essentially nil. Go for it !
You will be amazed at what a beautiful and functional object you can build,
and even if it isn't perfect, you will enjoy paddling it whist you scheme to
build the next one better.
