Hey! I own a rag and an iron, I can do that! I just trucked on over to the site and scoped out your process. I like it. I also like the deck fittings. I am considering ditching the block and rod recessed fittings that my project calls for and going with something like what you guys did. I can research that a little further later. For now I need to get over to HD or Lowes and pick some lip material. I think I will probably end up using oak since that seems to be acceptable and I know they have it. With any luck I should be enjoying a nice weekend of steaming and clamping and glueing and.....well steaming, clamping and glueing. By the way, how many laminations did you end up using on your two boats?
I am glad that you put your site link on your message because I forgot about how you used your drill and that sanding drum to take off the excess risers from under the deck. I was just looking at that yesterday on my boat thinking that it was not going to be an easy process cutting the excess off the bottom of the riser. Now I have a plan at least.

Thanks,

Tony

: I steamed my ash strips to make the bend around the front of my coaming.
: Wasn't nuthin to it. Just flopped a wet wash rag over the strip and laid a
: regular clothes iron to it. It was easy, and allowed me to use thicker
: strips, and hence, fewer laminations.
