Thanks for all your feedback, as I said before, I'm still looking at options at the moment, and another alternative material I'm considering is using bamboo fibre, instead of glass. There is a new surfboard manufacturer here in Oz using it. The owner is away on business(ie surfing) and won't be back until end of september, so I'll contact him then to find out if it is suitable/costs.
