I put a small skeg on my Guillemot. A 3/4 inch strip about 18 inches long. It helped a bit. that said, I'm making an adjustable skeg that is about 15" by 4" or so. I'm making it spring loaded so the default is in the down positon. I'll use some cord and a cam cleat to pull it up when It's not needed. I'll post a photo as soon as I figure out my new camera.
