There is some info at the link below but your best bet is to try and find a copy of NZ Timbers by N C Clifton http://touchwoodbooks.co.nz/tnztimbers.html The Auckland City Libraries have a copy so should other large libraries. NZ Timbers cover the main European, American, Aust & NZ woods. Unfortunately it doesn't cover the now common Pacific Island woods or the newer species available like Paulownia (240kg/m3 compared to 380kg/m3 for WRC!).
Beware of some Northern Hemisphere species grown in Aust and NZ. The properties and quality of the wood may be very different. For example NZ grown Western Red Cedar is only good for kindling.
Cheers

: Does anyone know of a link or have a list comparing the weight (density) of
: the various woods that are used in strip building in North America and/or
: Europe (primarily the main timbers rather than the trims). I am trying to
: look at comparisions between the woods used in the US and Europe and what
: we have in Australia and New Zealand just to think about what else I might
: try
: thanks
