Mike,
Wisconsin is loaded with beautiful canoe venues which would be suitable for kayak touring but the big-water place to be is Bayfield with all those Lake Superior vistas.
No crowds. Low key. Safe. The local folks are more than happy to help visiters. Plenty of big water without too many power boats. I was there for two days last Sept. and didn't see anything on the water but other paddlers! If the weather cooperates there are paddling venues for every level of paddling skill.
Plenty of easy put-ins. Downtown Ashland, Washburn, the beach in Bayfield and a little known place called Meyers Beach near Cornucopia.
After dodging the clouds of PWC's and other jerks in Lake Erie, Gitchee-Goomi was heavenly.
If my Yare hadn't landed in the middle of the Ohio Turnpike I would be planning a trip to Bayfield right now.

: Hugo,

: Your boats look great. You live in Chicago? I just moved to Milwaukee and am
: looking for some good places to paddle my Guillemot 17 (which I finished
: last month). If you (or anyone else) has any ideas, please let me know.

: Thanks,

: Mike
