Also give the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association a shot at it. Those guys are very helpful. WHCA.org. Your boat looks a lot like a canoe called a fisherman, very popular in the 30's, 40's. Look for a serial number stamped on the inside stem, usually near the bottom.
I just received a copy of the original build order for an Old Town canoe I have acquired. Old records of some Canoe Mfg's are very complete. My canoe was built May 24, 1924, an Old Town HW 17ft.
