I found some small pieces of ash at my local Menards -- another one of the larger home improvement places. Check the area of the store that has small pieces of oak, walnut, mahogany, etc., for trim and crafts, near where they have dowels and other specialty stuff. I did my outer stems with a 3'x3"x3/4" piece and had lots left over.

: Well, i've been to 5 local lumberyards, one home depot, and one lowe's... and
: nobody has any ash wood (the guy at home depot said, "Never heard of
: it"...).

: Anybody have any online suppliers of wood that I could get a couple of planks
: from? the ash will be used for the stems, and maybe for the coaming lip.

: Thanks

If you can't find ash, use oak
