yes, I'm in the Chicago area. I'm just beginning sea-kayaking (I've been a whitewater kayaker up to now), so I cannot make any reccomendation (except Washington Island/Rock Island at the top of Door County). I intend to paddle with the Prairie Coast Paddlers (http://www.prairiecoastpaddlers.org/), they usually make trips that you can join (we'll be gpoing with them to Door County this weekend).
