: Hello Andrew,
: I have been monitoring this bulletin board for some time and have since
: started on a kayak myself (Guillemot Great Auk). I am a displaced
: Maritimer (from N.S.) but am now in Ontario so your email address caught
: my attention. You will note that we kept our old email......
: I am at the point of glassing the vessel and am about to order epoxy. I have
: been seriously considering EAST system epoxy (want to keep the $$'s down
: home) but your message raises some flags. I recall from an earlier post
: that EAST has performed well and the Vaclav Epoxy Test also gave it
: acceptable marks.
: What was your experience in mixing, working time and application and more
: importantly woud you use it again?
: Your comments appreciated
: cheers

Hi.
East system seems to work fine. I used their medium hardener and had no problems with working times etc. Recoat time was between 2 and 6 hours, and working time was sufficient to roll the whole boat in one go. You can do about 1/2 with a brush before squeegeeing. I would use it again, no problem.
The white residue after using the boat Friday doesn't seem to be a problem as it seems to clean up easily.
Hope this helps
Andrew
