In Response To: Material: Supplier for Ash wood (Mike Rury)

: Well, i've been to 5 local lumberyards, one home depot, and one lowe's... and
: nobody has any ash wood (the guy at home depot said, "Never heard of
: it"...).

: Anybody have any online suppliers of wood that I could get a couple of planks
: from? the ash will be used for the stems, and maybe for the coaming lip.

: Thanks

Mike,

Where do you live? If you are in the Conn. area... I was at the Wood Rack in Branford a few weeks ago and they had a bunch of ash on sale. Something like $3 a board foot (dont quote me on the price but it was low). They sell rough cut lumber so if you need it thicknessed or edged they will do that for you but you should call ahead.

As far as mail order you could try Woodcraft.com or Rockler.com

Good Luck,
Rich
