Yeah ... it could be used for a strongback ... but ***hands down*** I would still choose to build a wooden box beam.

Powerstrut ...

Will need intermediate support to prevent sagging.
Will need support to prevent it from tipping over on it's side because of the skinny width.
Will need support to prevent tortional twisting of the beam ... maybe.
Will need to be joined together ... straightly ... in 2 peices to get a long enough strongback.
Will need support to keep it straight from side to side ... maybe. You don't want the stuff to snake around.
Will be ... heavy.
Will not be usefull for much else once you're done.

My experience has also been that steel and aluminum products ... aren't as straight as they appear.

For my money and time ... I'll stick with my strongback ala Ted Moores ... tested and proven by hundreds of builders, myself included.
