I used 6 layers - 4 layers of 6 oz. plain weave and 2 layers of 5 oz. carbon fiber. It is relatively thin, but will be plenty strong. You'll find the layups will get much stiffer with a couple weeks curing.

I'd point you to a picture, but the pages aren't current. I tried a few things differently on this boat, including embedding the lip magnets into the layup with a layer of 3.25 oz glass and a layer of 5 oz. CF over them. I recessed the lip for the gasket seat about 1/16" using double faced tape & leaving the waxy paper attached to the top side of the tape. Made it much easier to remove the tape than it was to remove the sacrifical gasket from the Vaclav retainers on the last boat.

Got the compass mount fabricated & hope to tape the inside seams on Saturday.
