I used 6 layers of 5oz cloth. Not sure how thick it is but it was flimsy b4 I installed it. Over a larger area (while holding the lip lay-up in my hand) it was very flimsy. Over a smaller area, and being attached to the deck it was stiff. I have had no problems with it, and I have magnets holding the cover in place.
