: ok, I know some people make whole boats out of Home Depot grade plywood, so
: I'm probably overly concerned. My question is, is there any quality issue
: with cutting a bulkhead from this material? More water damage if the epoxy
: is penetrated, less strength? I want to move the bow bulkhead aft several
: inches to cut down on flooded volume and possibly use it as a foot rest.
: The Pygmy-supplied precut is too small to move aft. I think they will send
: an oversize one, and I don't think the cost is much, I'd just rather cut
: it and get it in now if there is NO downside- otherwise, I'll wait for the
: right stuff.
: Thanks for any advice.
We used it in two kayak without glass, epoxy thicken fillets edges and use them in the surf just coated and just fine. We even wet exited and sent them to the beach in 6' surf. They were full of sand and water when we got to them on the sand. No damage to the bulkheads with one ding to the hull where the bow hit the other. Love that clean sand beach.
