Skin-on-Frame: Adjustable Rib Bending Jig

On my current SOF project, I wanted to use Mark Starr's rib bending method in order to control the rib shape better than in my previous boats, but hoped to avoid making a stack of forms that would only be usable for one size and shape of boat. The idea of an adjustable jig seemed intriguing, so I decided to build one.

The prototype is done and I've posted some photos in a new album called "SOF
building tools and jigs" at:

I'll be giving it a workout tonight, hopefully. I've already got some ideas for improvements, but if this one works well enough, I may not bother to build another. In retrospect, I could have probably done "Starr" forms for my boat in less time, but this will work for any boat I'm likely to build.

I've got a couple of ideas for measuring methods for setting up the jig and will try them shortly, then report back on how everything works.
