I remember reading that back in the archives. The person filled the weave with the epoxy and wanted to use poly because it leaves a much better finish than varnish. He did not succeed because it never hardend on him, but he was not sure if it was because he was using old poly and/or hardener or what the cause was.

Having had some experience with poly fiberglassing, I can say that his experience was not typical. As a matter of fact I had the opposite trouble, I would not have enough time to use all the poly I had, at times when I was trying to apply a lot on a hot summer's day. But that was back in the day when I used to do autobody work. I do not remember having that trouble trying to fill the weave of the FG on the kayaks my dad and I built. With the kayaks, we just about dumped it on, which was how fast as we applied it. It also helped that the kayaks were at a good working height and did not have crevices to try to get into with the glass and poly, unlike autobody work.

But then, in each case, I was using fresh poly. Never tried to get away with using older stuff or stuff of unknown age. As long as you buy fresh, I do not see why you should have any problems, however, I never tried poly over epoxy.
