After I join my deck and hull together one of the next stages is the footbrace. I have already decided to stay away from the side mounted foot pegs, I want something to pearch my entire foot on such as Nick's concept.

But then I started thinking about just building up the front bulkhead with foam insulation. I have a bunch of solid blue house insulation, not quite as dense as minicell but pretty close. I have not tested it but its carving characteristics should suffice so I should be able to shape this stuff to a comfortable angle.

A couple of questions:

1. Should the bulkhead be reinforced? Will 4mm or 3mm okoume with glass and epoxy suffice or is that overkill?
2. Other than trading boats with others are there any other benefits for an adjustable footbrace? I suspect SOFs rarely are adjustable.
