i finished stripping the hull today, and am waiting on some rain and freiend to help me flip it over to start the deck.
I had to rebuild several tools during this boat build. I haven't done any woodworking in a long while and my router and today, the electric stapler, needed repair. the router had vibrated it's stator loose during the stripping process. About one board into it, a tension pin that holds the shaft locking mecanism broke and it slammed to a hault.
and today the electric stapler just gave up. it turns out that the rubber washers/(shocks to the solioid) had turned into tar and gummed up the innards.
both problems were easy to fix, but i was wondering if any of you fix your powoer tools or just buy new ones. Most people today treat everthing as disposable, but the tension pin in the router cost $0.15 and about an hour to repair an otherwise DEAD tool. the stapler works without the washers but will soon crack if i dont replace them, they will cost 0.50$ at most. anyway i was able to get the last part of the hull done without them. and now i understand why i used so many staples before. they go in much better now.
