Are you building this kayak with the intent of selling it? If so try and do the best job you can. I am going to assume that this is a S&G kayak. Concentrate on the fairness of the lines where the panels all join up. Especially take extra care with the finish. Maybe a few small custom features. One off's, not something anybody can buy. I have little doubt that it will float. Novice or not, you should still cover your expenses. You are the only one who can place a dollar value on your time.
I built a Queen Charlotte 19 a few years back. After two years with this kayak I decided to sell it but not before I refinished it and added a few features like a keyhole cockpit ( which Pygmy did not offer at that time ), flush(?) hatches and 8mm bulkheads front and rear. I got $1100 and a expenses paid trip to DC, dinner and drinks and hotel. The kayak was three years old when I sold it.
