Thanks for all suggestions and inspiring thoughts. For those curious, I weighed the hull (33lbs) and the deck (17lbs) for a total boat weight of 50lbs (bathroom scale) and with foam swimming worms for floatation, seat foam/back strap (thanks Chip) and some excess water from yet another trial on the water it weighs 56lbs. Not too dissapointing for nearly a 20 foot double. I can still tote it to the waters edge solo and that's all that really matters. I duct taped the deck on and am contemplating glassing it in place. This one will more than likely be a kids double and the sooner I finish it (even though it looks strange), the sooner I can start the next. Live and learn, I guess. Although who ever invented that saying must have forget the ending or most important part: Live, learn and build the next boat better. Now I'm off paddling, it's just too nice to be sitting staring at this screen. Have a good one.
