Everyone thinks strip built and S & G boats are beautiful. Many of those who want a kayak would love to have a hand made boat. Very few people will part with the money that a wood boat will cost to make building them economically viable. The only way to make money is to target well to do (rich) people. Are there enough rich people out there who want a beautiful wood boat? I would say that to make even close to minumum wage you'll have to sell an S & G for around $1000, and a strip built for at least $3000...probably more. You'll make more on the S & G...for your time. Will I build a boat for someone else for minumum wage? No...I won't. I'll give it away to someone special rather than let some stranger steal one of my babies. Damn...I didn't realize I was so crazy. Is there a doctor in the house?
