The problem is that any object is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It can be the most gorgeous yak out there, with $3000 of fine woods and 1000 hours of work in it, but if no is willing to pay for it, you've got a white elephant.

I just sold my GB on Ebay for less than $1K, (and it weren't no ugly stick!), after watching a number of strippers not sell with reserves obviously above $1000. People in the kayaking community may be aware of the value of the boat, but if they want one, will go ahead and build before forking out $2000 +. My impression, (and experience), is that you'd be lucky to cover your material cost.

If you build, build for love, not money.
