i had this question of price also, but not for selling reasons but for insurance reasons. I used Nick's pricing estimates for him to build one since the insurance company is interested in replacement costs. I spent at least $2000 on materials (Canadian $) and 300+ hours. Using my wage at work it came out to around what Nick charges, with currency exchange factored in. The quality of my strip built is not going to be anywhere near what you buy from a professional builder, but to replace it I have to build another or buy one... and so I sent a link to Nick’s pricing guide and to my site to convince the insurance company. Let’s just say that it’s insured for far more than anyone would pay to buy it, but it’s still not what it’s worth to me. Should something terrible happen I will be well compensated, but I’d rather have my boat than the obscene amount of money I’ll get if it gets stolen or destroyed. I’d probably spend the money on a private investigator or a mafia hit man to find the thief and break his legs:)
