Rover, I'm not your man - there are plenty of folks here with more knowledge and experience in all aspects of kayaking (althoguh lately, I've been feeling like I've cornered the market on "mistakes"). But, it might help if we knew what aspect of kayaking you were interested in.

For example, building or just paddling? If building, what type or all types? If paddling, Sea, white water, surf, etc? Also, recreation, speed/racing, distance, camping, and so on and so forth.

So, if you could expound a little, it may help some folks decide if it would be appropriate to come forward or not. Just a thought.
