Epoxy: Does Cabosil make epoxy brittle?

I've been epoxy coating my paddle tips for some time now, but have recently switched from talc to Cabosil for a thickener. I've notice that although the tips are very abrasion resistant now, the epoxy tends to chip more readily. Is this likely to be due to the Cabosil?
