: I have the Thule H2Go kayak saddles, which I really love, but one by one the
: gray pads that support the boat are giving it up, splitting on the
: underside of the pad where the support pin goes through. What can I use to
: repair them? I figure I can put some kind of tough fabric over the split
: area, with some kind of miracle space-age glue to hold the fabric in
: place; whitewater raft repair fabric comes to mind, but I'm at a loss as
: to what glue to use. Any ideas? Thanks in advbance, Greg.
I had the same problem on one of 4 units.
Superglue worked for a while.
I ended up drilling a couple of small holes and runing some nylon lacing through the holes and tieing it together. This should do the trick since it is not a structural conection. You could do the same with a small rubber or metal strap and two 4-40 or 6-32 flathead screws to get the same result. My pads held up on the car year round for 3+ years. I had a friend who bought pads last year that cracked in 2 weeks. Must have been a quality problem.
