What's the dimension of your scarf joint? I'm using a 3/16 in. strip & have scarf joints that are 1.5 inches long. I use Titebond-II wood glue(water-proof) & have no problems. Much less expensive thatn Gorilla. Correct me if I'm wrong, but once you layup the boat & glass it, the scarf joint "should" have little affect on strength.

I've heard others do different scarfs that do not have a very long height-to-length ratio giving them a much smaller gluing surface. I made a jig that allowed making the 1.5 in length scarfs very easily with a small hand-place and they only take a few seconds to make. Making the jig is the hardest thing, and it really isn't that bad. Well worth the effort to be able to quickly & accurately scarf strips. Got the idea from Rob Macks (Laughing Loon)
