Hello STEVE,
I never had it happen with the WRC for the vessel but it is not unusaul for that to happen with lumber. It is caused by a stressed portion of a tree where the cells are streched on one side of the trunk and compressed on the other. This can be caused by another tree falling on it and it growing around it or the like. You will find sometimes just a few pieces will do that and the rest of the board will be OK or the whole board is stressed. If it is not to bad; bend it into place like any other strip. The glue and epoxy will hold it. You can also cut it into shorter pieces for the design work or coaming, etc. If it looks like a pretzel cut it into fireplace lengths and heat the shop with it!
Good Luck;
