i started making progress on the deck.

i ran out of good strips and had to mill some more. i found that after working with them on the hull, i was able to set up the router better and make better strips. the new ones are cut a little deeper work much better. My router also died again, this time a stator wire got cut up by the stator. it must have moved when i did the previous repair. it smoked and everthing but was still easy to repair. took about an hour after i found the problem. i just happen to have the right wire handy, so it didnt cost anything. just goes to show that tools doont have to be disposable. but i believe that 95% of woodworkers would have bought another.

i also found that 1x8 cedar stock is a full 3/4 not the 5/8 of 1x6 stock. i dont know if that is ordinary or just my lumber yard. its still the same board foot cost.

for the beginners out there i find i like the 10 foot strips best. 8 foot are too short and require a few too many scarfs. 10's i think will cover the deck completely with no scarfs after the first 2 sheer strips.
