Thomas,

you are saying "Strip" in the title of your post, and mention staple holes, so I assume this really is a stripper.

Are you trying to create an impermeable epoxy surface before applying the fibreglass ? I really don`t think this is necessary, in fact the fiberglass will help to create this impermeable barrier.

On the other hand, maybe you just forgot that the inside needs to be glassed, in order to make the "sandwich" structure work ?

In any case, I'd re-read the instruction from the plans/book and do as they say. If you are too confused, a quick test panel will only delay you a couple of days.
