I can't add much to what Rick said. I agree that the time for a strip built is about 300 hours...sometimes much more. An S&G takes about 100 hours...sometimes less. Neither method is better...though the strip built allows you more rounded and sweeping curves and many consider them to be prettier. Both types perform admirably...if you have the right design for what you are wanting to do. SOFs are another option. Start searching through the posts and you'll get an idea of what can be done.
